Bruker, the US specialist for instrumental analysis has taken over the Austrian measurement technology provider Alicona Imaging. Alicona specialises in optical 3D surface metrology for quality assurance in laboratories and production. The technology of the Graz based company is used in manufacturing processes and products of the machine tool industry, medical technology, forensics and microelectronics. The sale to Bruker brings the successful collaboration with the private equity fund advised by Quadriga Capital to an end. During their time together, Alicona was able to drive its internationalisation, significantly expand its product portfolio and to almost double its number of employees to over 150.

Mission accomplished: Since the establishment of Dorea in 2015, Quadriga Capital has successfully supported the growth of the operator of nursing and retirement facilities. Under the management of Chief Executive and co-partner Axel Hölzer, Dorea was able to acquire 58 nursing homes and seven out-patient nursing services in only three years and develop into an exemplary nursing provider in Germany. Henceforth, Dorea will set sail in the European network of the French Groupe Maisons de Famille (MdF) as new principal shareholder.

With the takeover of biomess Ingenieurbüro by GBA, the group is expanding its expertise- and service-offering in the environmental business segment of harmful indoor substances. With its headquarter in Mönchengladbach, biomess Ingenieurbüro is a provider of laboratory analysis and consulting in connection with asbestos and moulds. Additional services are hygiene inspections of ventilation and air conditioning systems as well as drinking water analyses.

GBA is continuing along its growth trajectory and is expanding its service portfolio in the food segment in Austria through the majority takeover of the Hygienicum Institut für Mikrobiologie & Hygiene-Consulting in Graz. With this step, the laboratory and consultancy services provider is strengthening its market position in Austria, expanding its international laboratory network to 18 locations and creating the basis for the development of activities in south-eastern Europe. With about 80 employees, Hygienicum stands for high-performance service consisting of laboratory analysis, development support as well as consultancy services in the field of industrial hygiene and marketability. Dr Michael Stelzl will remain in the future as Chief Execuitve and minority shareholder of Hygienicum.

Aspire Education, founded in 2014 with the support of Quadriga Capital Private Equity Fund IV LP, has taken over ETC (Enterprise Training Center). The company is Austria’s leading service provider for training and advanced training in the IT sector and it is already the third acquisition for Aspire Education in 2018. In the growing market for training and advanced training, the youth and adult education platform has been able to expand to over 900 employees in the DACH countries to date.
